Mahmoul Halaby

Mahmoul is a pastry made throughout the Middle East. In Aleppo, these delicious filled cookies are a traditional Easter sweet. Syrian families, like ours, all look forward to these sugar-dusted molded and filled cookies during this season.

The Mahmoul molds, in fact, are as much a part of the story as are the cookies. I have my grandmother’s hand-made cookie molds from Aleppo and I treasure them. I did this video to show the traditional way of making these favorites. I hope you enjoy making them with your own family as much as we have through the generations. Sahtein!
