1. If I have Sitto's Kitchen and Sitto's Kitchen II, what is in your third cookbook?
Since I had to switch publishers, I decided to name the cookbook simply, Sitto's Kitchen once again. But this third version is much more refined. I took the time to clarify and even tweak a few recipes. I used a lower-case font in the instructions. Also, there are more concise Cook's Notes in several recipes. The idea was to make the cookbook even more user-friendly.
2. Where can I buy some of these more unusual ingredients?
In every case, my Cook's Notes will clarify the ingredients and the Where To Buy It chapter has an updated on-line source for these ingredients if the reader does not have access to Middle Eastern food stores.
3. Are the Aleppo recipes the same as other regions in Syria, like Damascus or Homs?
Although these are genuinely Aleppo, many Lebanese and Syrian readers have claimed the similarities to their cuisines. Aleppo's cuisine is renown for its generous use of spices, setting it above other regions in the Levant.
4. Do I have to know how to cook Syrian before I can make these dishes?
No, my cookbooks have always been written with the young reader and cook in mind. I, after all, started out knowing very little about cooking and much less about my grandmother's dishes, until I learned them. The simplicity of these recipes, finally documented with the modern reader in mind, will prove how easy many of these dishes are to make. My grandchildren are now making them!
5. What if I don't see one of my grandparents favorite dishes? Can I ask about those dishes?
My Facebook often receives questions about a menu item that's not listed and I do my best to explain it or point out how one of these recipes could be adapted to what was remembered.
6. I see your cookbooks on Amazon, some at exorbitant prices. Why is that?
Those are used cookbooks being sold sometimes by unscrupulous distributors. Check this link on Amazon. This Sitto's Kitchen was published June 2, 2020, and that is the one to look for at the most reasonable price.
